  4. Elizabeth Anile says:

Please vote for RSDR! They are such an incredible, inspiring group. They really need all of the help and support they can get. Definitely got my vote!

  5. Joanna says:

Please vote for the Rudozem Street Dog Rescue Charity. They are currently fundraising for a dog shelter that can save so many dogs street dogs from the winter months.

  6. Karen Teague says:

In Kos, there is no RSPCA, no PDSA, no neutering program. In many of the villages cats are culled if they become prolific. It is common for children to tie fireworks to cats tails and kicking of animals is usual. Please support Animal Rescue Kos. They do great work and really make a difference.

  7. Avril Sims who supports Turkish Animal Rescue Organisation says:

RSDR gets my vote ! Good Luck x

  8. Petra Lucken says:

RSDR is incredeble. They are sutch loving people. They gives these dogs all there love they need and give them a better live. But they need your support. RSDR …… keep on going. You get my vote.

  9. Nina Davies who supports Turkish Animal Rescue Organisation says:

On Kos there is no organisation such as RSPCA to help the animals, just the dedication of a few volunteers……… They need all the help they can get.

  10. Julie Lewis who supports Rudozem Street Dog Rescue (RSDR) says:

There is no RSPCA or similar in Bulgaria either….RSDR operates from the family home, they don’t even have a shelter. This is one family, (the only British family in the town/area) working against years of ingrained poor treatment and attitudes towards animals, trying to make a difference. Their home has literally been ‘eaten’ by the many dogs they have taken in, not a room in the house is a dog-free zone, their furniture and clothes have been ‘demolished’ by the dogs but still they never turn one away. Could you live with over 50 dogs in your own home? Would your neighbours be up in arms if you did? Then you can see a tiny element of what the family face every single day but they never moan and would never ask for anything for themselves, the dogs come first EVERY time! xxx Go RSDR!!!!

  11. Mina Katrantzaki says:

I hope for better days for these poor animals

  12. katie brown says:

Animal Rescue Kos doesnt have a shelter either, the money from this, just £150 will go to our foster homes that are on the island to encourage them to look after dogs over the winter period, if we have no foster parents for the animals we will end up with hundreds of dogs on the streets. WE DONT WANT THIS!

OUR HOUSES ARE FULL OF CATS AND DOGS, OUR GREEK NEIGBOURS COMPLAIN AND HAVE EVEN POISONED OUR ANIMALS THAT WERE ON THE FOOD PROGRAMME.

So many good causes and only one vote…I have given mine already but have bookmarked a few others for a donation if they should not win..if each of us voters gave a small donation it would go a long way. Good luck and thank you for the work that you all do, whoever you are.

  13. katie brown who supports Sunnys Sanctuary Rhodes says:

£150 cannot be spent on a dog shelter! our problem is so big that as soons as funds come in they are spent on vet bills, medication, re homing, food and plent of other things!

PEOPLE STILL HAVE THE BELIEF THAT CHARITY STARTS AT HOME BUT PEOPLE IN THE UK DONT REALISE HOW LUCKY THEY ARE.

RSDR – I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO LINK YOU TO OUR WEBSITE AND HELP YOU TO GET MANPOWER IF YOU REQUIRE ANY HELP IN BULGARIA. I AM NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM OVER THERE BUT IF IT IS ANYTHING LIKE GREECE THEN YOU NEED ALL THE HELP YOU CAN GET X

  14. POli Papa says:

Good luck to these poor animals in Greece :-(

  15. Diane Rowles who supports Rudozem street dog rescue says:

Every one of us is deserving and I am sure would put the money to where it is most needed. Unfortunately we are in an area where the locals treat dogs like vermin. Anyone who does have a dog has it chained up and they are lucky if they get a couple of pieces of bread a day. There is no one in this area who is prepared to foster dogs. This is why we now have nearly 60 dogs at our own home. Apart from the dogs and cats at our home, we feed many more dogs and cats that are on the streets. Many of these desperately need help and we are unable to take in any more. There are complaints that we are using our own residential home as a shelter and we live in fear that we will be ordered to get rid of the dogs from our house. Many of the dogs we have here, have been shot and so badly abused that some will be with us for the rest of their days.

    • Gina Alexander says:

Diane, you and your family do so much for these poor animals against all odds.
Since I started to follow the story of Sweet Mima, who had her 4 legs chopped off, I have become more & more aware of the appalling conditions suffered by the animals we call pets, but many Bulgarians treat like vermin.
They stone them, shoot them, mutilate them – and these wretched creatures have done NOTHING to warrant being treated this way.
I have read that your family are also treated badly by the local people for the very reason that you seek to help the animals they abuse.
To be charitable it must be down to ignorance, fear, lack of education…..
otherwise why would a whole nation gain pleasure from abusing those who cannot speak up for themselves??? You are fighting an uphill battle, but stick with it, because you ARE making a difference.
Take care of yourself & your family xx

    • Aaron Cross who supports Turkish Animal Rescue Organisation says:

You’re a star Diane and have my vote.

  16. Anita Parsons who supports Rudozem Street Dog Rescue (RSDR) says:

Rudozem Street Dog Rescue (RSDR) is a foundation run by an English family that rescues street dogs and cats from the streets and tries to find them loving homes. Please view our Video Documentary on RSDR at this link: http://www.streetdogrescue.com/apps/videos/videos/show/10044870-rudozem-street-dog-rescue-english-

Diane & Tony Rowles currently run RSDR from their own family home and have up to 55 dogs and 6 cats in their house and backyard. There are literally hundreds and thousands of dogs in the streets in Bulgaria. Many of these dogs are abused, spat on, shot, kicked, beaten, or worse and in the cold winter months a lot of these dogs die. There is no animal welfare in Bulgaria and a lot of attitudes by local people are to treat them like vermin. The majority of these dogs are not dangerous and it is heartbreaking to see one of them go up to someone only to have someone throw a stone at them. Many of them are puppies born in the streets and end up dying in the cold winter months. The so-called Dog Isolators (supposed shelteres) in Bulgaria are nothing but a place of torture where they round up dogs, and leave them starving, or kick them or beat them to death. RSDR are trying to raise money to get their own shelter to help many more hundreds of dogs (to stop them going to the Isolators) and to try and save as many from dying in the cold winter months, aswell as start a spay and neuter programme to reduce the population. RSDR have also had complaints from locals about the noise the dogs make from their residential house, which is another reason why we are so desperate to get this shelter.
RSDR have only 1-2 months to raise 38,000 euros for a plot of land for a dog shelter, before the owner will sell to someone else. They have been searching many plots of land and a lot of these places have had no road access, no electricity and no water and they were still asking for anything between 25,000 to 45,000 euros and that was just for the land only!! The land we have found has a building already on it!! and the owner is only asking for 38,000 which is a bargain price!!. We can’t miss this opportunity. We need a place to work from. The current vet does not know how to spay bitches, and we need a shelter with a surgery so we can start our spay and neuter scheme as we’ve had volunteer vets offer to help but they need a place to work from.
please everyone vote for us, or please help by donating also to our website. We need all the help we can get. The cold winter months are coming up again, and we want to try and save as many dogs as we can. RSDR have currently now have had 94 dogs adopted in other countries and our next adoption trip is only next week. Please help this amazing family with their life saving work!!!

C’mon PEOPLE!! Vote Rudozem Street Dog Rescue – a husband and wife + their kids run this amazing charity out of their own home in Bulgaria, rescuing many mistreated, abused and homeless Bulgarian dogs and cats. We need every penny so that we could buy a propper shelter BEFORE WINTER to rescue many more animals, which otherwise will be likely to freeze to death during the cold Bulgarian winter months. PLEASE VOTE RSDR !!!

  28. donna schleck who supports Rudozem Street Dog Rescue (RSDR) says:

Please all vote for RSDR , they are in desperate need of money to build a shelter and save even more dogs and cats then they already have . they are just one family struggling to feed a town full of starving animals. They take them to their own home and have used all their own money up over the past few years , yet they never complain, they never say ”we don’t have any fosters” they jsut get on with the job at hand ..going out 2-3 times a day no matter what the weather to feed all the cats and dogs , and to bring home any that need urgent help due to being shot etc.
They don’t even have use of a car right now and have been walking to the town centre carrying heavy bags of dog and cat food …and still doing this 2-3 times a day . They go into the forest to feed the strays ( risking life and limb on steep slopes , and the posiblity of being attacked by wolves and bears) they go to the land fill and everywhere they go they try and build little huts for the dogs to shelter in and leave food for them in their. How many others are doing all this with only 4 people ?..RSDR you have my vote and my utmost respect. VOTE RSDR ..THEY REALLY NEED THIS .

  29. samantha rowles who supports Rudozem Street Dog Rescue (RSDR) says:

Hi i was just wondering if there is anyway you can check, i was told by a friend of mine of facebook that people have been voting for there chosen charity repeatedly by deleting there cookies and history on there pc ( allowing them then to make there chosen charity get ahead in the votes unfairly ) I just think this is very unfair if the real deserving charity does not win and was wondering if there was any way of you checking that only 1 vote per person is actually counted rather than the repeated votes.
    Thanks.

    • becky coleman who supports Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls PA says:

Hi Samantha, thanks for pointing this out – yes, unfortunately some people have voted more than once so we’re in the process of discounting multiple votes to make it absolutely fair for everyone.
We’ve also refined the voting process so that deleting cookies doesn’t allow another entry so we shouldn’t get this problem again.
Thanks again for letting us know,
      Becky

  30. melissa tanya says:

  34. Charlie Manson says:

Rudozem Street Dog Rescue (RSDR) have my vote, the work they found themselves doing is inspiring and this would go a long long way in helping with their goal of providing a better shelter for these brutalised animals who are only looking for love, affection and a safe forever home.

Helping animals is our all duty!

  36. Sean Austin says:

  37. donna schleck who supports Rudozem Street Dog Rescue (RSDR) says:

When thinking of how bad things are in Bulgaria , where RSDR is ,you only have to remember MIMA the dog who had all four legs hacked off in a brutal act of revenge and no-one was or will ever be prosecuted for this disgusting act, this is something RSDR is trying to change , they are not only passionate about saving as many animals as possible , but in educating the bulgarians on how to treat and respect all life .

    • becky coleman who supports Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls PA says:

Hi, thanks for your comments. I did add a comment earlier to explain this but perhaps you haven’t seen it – unfortunately some people have voted more than once so we’ve discounted multiple votes to make it absolutely fair for everyone. As mentioned in the original post, voting is limited to one per person. We’ve now refined the voting process to ensure this can’t happen again.

I’ve contacted the adminstrators of Animal Rescue Kos and Rudozem Street Dog Rescue to explain the situation too.
      Hope this explains everything.

  43. maris says:

I hope that this help poor animals

  44. Nisette says:

It is amazing what a difference Animal Rescue Kos already makes for the animals on the island! They would be able to do so much more, but they need all the help they can get. These are really hardworking people for the benefit of the animals without thinking about themselves.
As I am living on Kos for 30 years now, I know the situation of the animals here very well and believe me, you prefer not to know the details, but the situation is very bad.
Besides the good work for the animals, they even go further by visiting schools to explain to the children how and why to respect animals.
Animal Rescue Kos is worth voting for!!!!!
I would vote for them over and over again if I could!

Shooting dogs in Bulgaria is common practice…and a way that people amuse themsleves, which is why i will always support RSDR.

I am sure that alla of you have seen to internet what is going on here in Greece!!!!!!!!It is not a lie,you have seen it with your own eyes!!!!!!!!!!!Support Animal Rescue Kos!!!!!Please…
