Vote for your cause of the month – December

Yet again we’ve been inundated with nominations for our cause of the month – it’s great to see how passionate our members feel about their causes.

We’ve narrowed the nominations down ten causes and now we’d like you to help us decide. The shortlist is below so please vote for your favourite to win the £250 donation, very kindly provided by our friends at Halfords.

A big thanks to everyone who nominated a cause – unfortunately we can’t choose everyone for the shortlist but we do offer this award every month so please enter again next time.  Read about Animal Rescue Kos, November’s winner

Here’s the important stuff – only one vote per person please. To keep it fair, we will discount multiple votes. The voting ends at Midday (12 noon) on November 30th 2010 and the cause with the most votes fairly cast at that time will win a £250 donation from Halfords. Our decision is final.

Good luck everyone!

  8. David Woodward says:

Ryde is a popular holiday resort with a massive expanse of sand, going out over a mile. One aspect is that the fast incoming tide is dangerous for the unknowing and many holiday makers in particular get caught out every year. The Ryde Inshore Resque HQ overlooks all of this with a panoramic view from a strategically placed HQ. I know that they badly need help with a new roof on their HQ. Their services are absolutely vital for Ryde. Please help them. Ryde Inshore Rescue is only kept going by dedicated volunteers and fund raising.
Cllr David Woodward, Ryde Town Council.

    • Jacqueline Dube says:

I vote for Chelseas Angels,. Such a fantastic cause for children who survive and for the families who have lost their children. This gift will help children who are facing this disease and help give them gifts for xmas that they could never have otherwise. Making poorly childrens dreams come true. Such an excellent charity :)

  20. Katie Hull who supports Equine Rescue and Rehoming says:

My vote goes to ERR. They have saved the lives of so many horses and ponies who other wise would have gone to slaughter of suffered terrible neglect, unnecessary pain and suffering. They truely are angels to these horses. Good luck.x

  21. Jmcl says:

    Go Ryde InShore

  22. elana hunt who supports Equine Rescue and Rehoming says:

My vote goes to e.r.r. they do so much to help save horses that would other wise go to slaughter, rescue and rehome them giving them their 2nd chance and get them into good forever homes, with out e.r.r. alot of horses would have been slaughtered, some of these horses have been fit and healthy, some needing alot of tlc but all have been welcomed by e.r.r in the hope of giving them their 2nd chance they so much deserve.

  23. Michaela White who supports Ryde Inshore Rescue says:

Ryde Inshore Rescue are NOT part of the RNLI, yet in 2009 they were the busiest lifeboat station on the Isle of Wight. They rescued over 300 people that year and even though they are a lifeboat station they also support other local charities and help the community in times of need. The volunteers at the lifeboat station are one of a kind and £250 could provide one member with full kit or fill the lifeboat with fuel….. Not one of the crew receive payment for going and saving lives every week and to me that deserves the support!

  24. R Menz who supports Equine Rescue and Rehoming says:

We are a Registered Not for Profit organisation totally run by volunteers with family’s job’s and (rescue) horses of our own- we have saved well over 500 horses from slaughter please vote for us.
Please also have a look at some of the before and after photo’s of some of the horses weve helped

  34. Claire Palmer says:

Vote Chelsea’s Angels! A fantastic cause. How can you not want to help innocent babies who have to suffer, so bravely, from this horrible childhood cancer. Many of them taken from us long before they should be. Click Chelsea’s Angles, and give them all your support! x

  35. Chelsea's Angels says:

Chelsea’s Angels is a registered charity set up in memory of Chelsea Knighton who was 3 when she lost her battle with cancer. Neuroblastoma is an extremely aggressive childhood cancer which the UK only offers a 20% survival rate. Families are having to find and fundraise hundreds of thousands of pounds for treatments in other countries that offer up to 70% survival rates. Imagine the hell these families go through with their child so poorly and then trying to find £250,000 or more to give them better survival rates ????
Chelsea asked her mummy and daddy at the age of 3 before she died to help other poorly children. So Chelsea’s Angels offers gifts, help towards costs of day trips and holidays to the child/ and or family. Also we offer financial help to families trying to raise money themselves for treatments, equipment etc and for everyday household bills.
We would really appreciate your vote as we continue to keep Chelsea’s last wish alive and help children in their fight against a cancer the UK government do nothing to assist.
    Thank you

Taylor my son (14) has 2 brain tumours and multiple ones in his spine and due to this he has no mobility from his waist down. He has had 6 major operations plus proton therapy in the US in the past 2 years.
