About Abercarn Cricket Club

Abercarn Cricket Club was founded in 1881. We play at Abercarn Welfare and have one of the best cricket grounds in South Wales. The ground regularly hosts Junior Representative cricket matches and has also played host to many touring sides. We currently run two senior sides on a Saturday which play in the Thomas Carroll Welsh Club Cricket Conference. The 1st XI and 2nd XI currently play in Division 2. In addition to this we run a social side on a Sunday that plays friendly games against various teams and we also have a Midweek XI that compete in the Lords Caerphilly Midweek League and are currently in Division 1. The Club has a thriving Junior Section and currently runs sides at Under 9, Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 levels. Our Junior sides compete in the MIFA youth leagues and the games vary from pairs cricket to traditional 20 over matches. We are currently trying to fundraise to improve our pavilion which was broken into by vandals in 2008. They destroyed kit and many other items from inside the clubhouse. We aim to raise as much money as possible to resotre the clubhouse to its former glory.
