Acorns Children's Hospice

Acorns vision is that every child and young person living in our region that is life limited or life threatened and their families should receive the specialist care and support they need. Acorns currently cares for 640 children who are unlikely to reach adulthood. Acorns specialist care and support services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for children and their families who would face a much tougher challenge alone. The need to turn to Acorns Children’s Hospice can strike at any time for any family.Acorns has three hospices based at Selly Oak in Birmingham, Worcester for the Three Counties and Walsall in the Black Country. The hospices are bright, happy places where the aim is to make every day special for children and their families.Acorns provides short breaks, respite and end-of-life care. Our community team is available to support families whenever they need it. Acorns is about making the most of a child’s life by offering support and palliative care to enhance the quality of their life.It currently costs over £8 million a year to support our families. That’s £750 per day for each child’s care. Acorns relies on the community to fund the majority of its activities. From every £1 you give 87p is spent on providing the vital care and support that our children and families rely on. We use the remaining 13p to raise the next £1. There is no charge to families for using the services we provide.
