About Burton Hockey Club

Burton Hockey Club was established back in 1899 the same year as F C Barcelona!. We are an ambitious yet friendly Hockey Club based in the Brewing town of Burton-upon-Trent in Staffordshire, the Midlands, England. The club actively promotes and supports 7 mens teams, 3 ladies teams, as well as a highly popular and successful youth academy, plus we run mixed and veteran's teams. Both our Men and our Ladies sides compete within their respective Midlands Hockey leagues. The Mens 1XI currently competed in the MRHA (Midlands Regional Hockey Association) Premier Division. The Ladies 1XI are in the Midlands Region Hockey Womens League Division 1. Our Mens 2XI are also in the MRHA Premier Division the highest possible league were they compete with Cannock, Beeston, West Bridford.. Our home fortress, pitch! is at Shobnall Leisure Complex in the shadows of Marstons Brewery, Shobnall Road, Burton-upon-Trent, we also play in Uttoxeter, Repton and St Benedicts School Derby, please find directions in the Locations menu above. We host games at weekends usually Saturday and have training sessions for both Ladies and Gentlemen plus the Academy during the week. We annually enter teams into the Mixed Trophy and got to the knockout stages twice in three years and Veterans Trophy (over 40's). We usually have pre-season fitness sessions for the bravest, along with summer league hockey for Ladies and Gentlemen and a Friday night mixed 7's. Our club house is currently the Henhurst Sports and Social Club which can be found on Henhurst Hill, Burton-upon-Trent not far from the pitch at Shobnall. Burton Hockey Club (EH id: 1180) has also been recognised as working towards providing a Safe, Effective and Child Friendly club environment, and as such has been awarded the England Hockey ClubsFirst Accreditation.
