About Oldham Mountain Rescue Team
The team carries out search and rescue work in the Peak District National Park and throughout Greater Manchester. The team has 50 members, all volunteers, who are available 24/7 and provide highly trained specialised resources to assist the emergency services for the benefit of the individual and at no cost. The team provides specialised equipment and personnel to undertake rescues in adverse weather and difficult or unusual situations. The team is self financing and needs up to £20K per year for routine running expenses and repairs. Major purchases beyond this have to be made after specific fund raising projects.
