About Queensferry Scouts Expedition Fund

This fund was originally set up to support a team of Scouts and Leaders from South Queensferry who travelled to Chogoria in Kenya in 2008 to carry out a variety of community projects including building a classroom for the primary school there. Since then the fund has continue to support the work of the Scout Group in South Queensferry - firstly by accumulating a fund for future expeditions to Kenya or other locations, and secondly to help support the overall work of the Scout Group. The Scout Group provides an essential community resource in the town, with a training programme for young people aged 6 through to 25. Scouting helps develop the four key capacities - to enable each child or young person to be a successful learner, a confident individual, a responsible citizen and an effective contributor. In addition, the Scout Hall provides a valuable resource for many other groups and individuals within South Queensferry, ranging from Guides and Brownies to Twins Club, Zumba classes, Enjoy-a-Ball, and is regularly used as a venue for parties, concerts, social events, even the odd wedding!
