About The Wooden Canal Boat Society
The Wooden Canal Boat Society works with volunteers to restore historic boats and put them back into use for the community. Our fantastic team of volunteers help us to preserve our 6 historic wooden canal boats. We run regular recycling trips by boat, operate a large town centre charity shop, and run a boatyard where we restore, repair and maintain our boats. Many of our volunteers are people experiencing, social exclusion, health problems or other difficulties. We have recently set up a 'Wellbeing Boat' service, providing rest and relaxation on the waterways for people with poor mental health. We are based in Tameside, Greater Manchester and work across the canal network.
