About Wantage And Grove Street Pastors

Wantage and Grove Street Pastors are part of a UK-wide movement to bring care and compassion to the streets of our towns and cities. All the volunteers are Christians from participating local churches. We have been working on the streets of Grove and Wantage for about seven years. We take the principle of Love-Your-Neighbour and apply it on the streets when there is greatest need (Friday and Saturday nights): we seek to care, to listen and, where we can, to help. We aim to help people enjoy the evening and get home safely and we give out plenty of lollipops, which very often bring a smile to saddened faces and can help to calm complex situations. Many of the people we meet when we're out have expressed strong thanks for our presence making a significant difference to their lives, as well as making the town calmer and safer.
