There’s a lot to think about at the start of the school year, so it’s not all too surprising that many of us push fundraising to the back of our to-do list and revisit the area once we’re more settled into the school routine. But you should start the school year off as you mean to go on – why miss a few months’ worth of funds that you could have otherwise raised? This money could go towards equipment and activities that kids at the school could really benefit from! There are plenty of ways to raise money for school. Here are just a few Back to School fundraising ideas that will help you to get off to the best start possible.
Work with Local Businesses
The majority of parents invest in school uniforms, stationery and other back-to-school items in the lead up to the first term of the new school year, so it’s a busy time for many local businesses. Consider negotiating some sort of collaboration or deal with them. See whether they will donate a percentage of the profits they make made to the school. Alternatively, you could negotiate a giveaway, where the store gives away a uniform, some stationery, or other back to school goods and parents can raffle for the prize. The money from the raffle could then be donated to the school!
Ask Parents to Donate Second-Hand Items
So many school supplies are wasted at the end of each school year. Students grow out of uniforms, no longer need certain set textbooks and shed all sorts of other equipment as they advance from one year to another. Ask parents to donate the items their children no longer need or have outgrown and organise a big giveaway. You could sell raffle tickets and allow winners to pick a prize out of the bunch. The money made from selling the tickets can then go towards your fundraising total.
