Lupus is an autoimmune disease affecting around 1 in 1,000 people across the UK. It occurs when the body’s immune system attacks its own tissues and organs. The profile of the illness has been raised recently through the work of Kelle Bryan, star of Loose Women and former member of the girl group Eternal. Kelle is also a Patron of The Lupus Trust which runs the fundraising initiative ‘Let’s Beat Lupus’ – and fundraising lead, Sarah, has recently turned to easyfundraising to help generate more vital funds to help The Lupus Trust find a cure. We sat down with Sarah to learn more.
Tell us all about Let’s Beat Lupus
Let’s Beat Lupus is a charity fundraising initiative run by The Lupus Trust and Kelle Bryan, who many will know also lives with lupus. Our mission is simple: to raise awareness and vital funds to support lupus research and patient care through The Lupus Trust. Kelle’s personal journey inspires everything we do, and we’re passionate about making a difference for others living with this challenging autoimmune condition. From TV appearances, online campaigns to community outreach, 100% of the money we raise goes directly to The Lupus Trust.
What do you need funding for?
All the money we raise supports The Lupus Trust — helping to fund groundbreakingresearch, improve diagnosis and treatments, and provide support to those affectedby lupus. Lupus is a misunderstood and often invisible illness, so funding is crucial, not only for medical advances but also for increasing awareness and advocacy.
Why did you join easyfundraising?
We joined easyfundraising because it’s such a simple yet powerful way for our supporters to help — without it costing them a penny. It’s effortless for supporters, and those small percentages really add up over time. It’s been an incredible tool for us – we’ve raised over £250 so far, at no cost to anyone.
What has the money raised been spent on?
All the funds we raise — including those from easyfundraising — go straight to The Lupus Trust. That means we’re helping to finance research projects, support resources, and awareness initiatives. It’s important to us that every contribution directly impacts the lupus community and moves us closer to one day, being first to find a CURE right here in the UK.

We promote easyfundraising through all our social media channels — including Instagram, TikTok, Whatsapp community — and we link it to our JustGiving page. We make sure our supporters know how easy it is to get involved and support us while doing their everyday shopping.
