About our cause

The Charles Burrell Steam Museum was established in 1989 the record and preserve part of the industrial history of the Market Town of Thetford in Norfolk. The Charles Burrell works, on which site the museum stands, manufactured steam traction engines that gained fame for their power and reliability around the world. The museum is run by enthusiastic volunteers and is open to the public 2 days a week. It relies on donations and grants only and has great educational value and wide public interest.
