In Summer 2016, I will be travelling to Sri Lanka in order to complete many enduring and assisting activities. For example, during days 4-7 I will be completing the Community Engagement and Project Phase where I have the opportunity to cook a meal for the community, invite them to a sports match or host a party. I will also explore local development challenges, that are aimed at meeting an important community need, for example, why are children living in orphanages? On day 3, I will be travelling to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage where I will investigate how the local people provide care for orphaned baby elephants that are rescued from the jungle. In addition to all these amazing experiences, I also am allowed time for rest and relaxation when I can explore temples, laze on the beach or hurtle down some white water rapids! Sri Lanka has numerous opportunites that I can't wait to experience!
