I have signed up with the charity East African Playgrounds to raise £2000 towards my trip. I will be in Uganda from the 2nd August - 25th August 2018. I will be trekking through the forests of Uganda to see the endangered Gorillas in their natural habitat. Then, with my fellow volunteers, I will help to build a playground for some of the world's most disadvantaged children. It is known that play has an incredible benefit on a child's development. Every child should have this opportunity as it builds physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills. Each playground built has been shown to improve the attendance of every child to their school, therefore, having a direct effect on their education. East African Playgrounds build playgrounds all over Uganda including in refugee camps. Examples of what you can fund with a donation: £10 - builds a toy giraffe for the children in the community to play with £15 - builds a motorbike out of tyres allowing kids to engage their creativity in roleplay scenarios £20 - funds safety equipment for a young adult allowing to start working with East African Playgrounds £50 - builds a table with space for board games like snakes and ladders or checkers £100 - fund an educational play programme for 1 month £250 - Gives the children the best climbing frame they have ever seen Of the £2,000 I raise, £300 will go to the Ugandan Wildlife Authority to help conservation efforts for the Gorillas I will be visiting. £600 will go on project costs of food, accommodation, and travel, most of which will go to the non-profit trek company, the home of Edirisa, who support the communities we will trek through. The remaining £1,100 will go directly to East African Playgrounds to fund their incredible work. Please donate anything you can, spread the word about east African Playgrounds and help give children their childhood back. Thank you so much for your support.
