Horseshoes and Handprints

Holditch

Set in the Somerset countryside, we offer equine assisted therapy; a combination of sensory work, horseplay and special riding. Families are travelling great distances because they are finding results they never thought possible. We involve the whole family as often the mother is worn out, father feels helpless despair and siblings are also stressed and often feeling sidelined. Anger, isolation, frustration, fear and anguish are all accepted and understood. With gentle guidance from our experienced staff and volunteers, clients work with the very specially trained horses and ponies. We offer sensory therapy to children and now adults on the autistic spectrum, with neurological disorder or depression due to bullying, bereavement, abuse or separation anxiety. We have seen little miracles; children have spoken for the first time and found their smiles where there was anger, while their mothers are 'held' in an atmosphere of friendship and calm where they too can learn how to play again. What is the smile of a special child worth? Please support this very special work, thank you.
