There have been Jews in Wales since the 1730s when, according to oral tradition, the first settlement was established in Swansea. During the late 19th & early 20th centuries, there were small communities in many of the south Wales valleys and larger ones in the main towns. From this heyday, these communities slowly declined, and their historical presence faded from memory. The Jewish History Association of South Wales aims to uncover, document, preserve, and share the heritage of this community.
