North West Action For Animals

North West Action for Animals (NWAFA) are an animal welfare organisation based in the North West of England. We campaign across the whole spectrum of animal welfare and animal rights issues from vivisection to puppy farming. We are specifically focused on the North West of England although we also work to campaign on wider global issues such as whaling, hunting and captivity. We actively promote joint working and regularly work with local Councils, other charity organisations and community groups. We undertake investigations into animal cruelty, and have so far successfully closed several puppy farms, resulting in the removal and re-homing of well over 100 dogs. We offer an assisted re-homing service for animals who's owners are unable to look after them any more. In doing this, we bring the animal to the attention of a secure network of rescue workers and animal welfare campaigners to give them the best chance of finding a forever home. We offer home checks on behalf of the owner and work with them to find the best future home for their pet. We never advocate putting an animal to sleep and will accept animals of all shapes and sizes. NWAFA take part in fundraising to help animals in the North West of England. We have an 'emergency fund' and our 'general fund'. The emergency fund is there to support rescues and animal owners in the North West with unforeseen, emergency situations that they are struggling to cope with. It is, in effect, a safety net, ensuring that no sick animal will have to go without treatment due to a lack of funding. This is something we feel very strongly about. Our general fund is used to cover any expenses for NWAFA (such as traveling to an event or producing marketing materials) and goes towards our long term goal of opening a shelter to provide lifelong care for animals that are not able to be re-homed.
