About our cause

Rushden Persian Rescue has been established to support Persian and other pedigree cats as well as non-pedigree cats, in need of rescue and rehoming. Rushden Persian rescue supports the general public and other charities by taking in abandoned, stray and neglected cats and then provides medical tests and treatments to all cats before finding them suitable new homes. All cats are vet health checked, neutered/spayed, vaccinated, flea & worm treated, micro chipped, groomed & bathed before being placed up for adoption. Funds raised by Rushden Persian Rescue cover the costs of these treatments. A re-homing donation is asked of adopters in support of the veterinary costs for the cats. Cats are fostered at the address listed until new homes are found, because of the specialist nature of some pedigree cats, i.e. Long coats of the Persian, flat faces, nasal & eye problems of the breed a great deal of education is required by the general public & adopters as to the care & attention that is required to ensure the general good health of these cats. As a professional groomer, Patsy Smith provides demonstrations to the public on correct bathing, cleaning 7 grooming procedures. Each adopter is given a care and fact sheet, and invited to return with the cats if they have any future questions or problems. The organisation regularly attends Open Days, Fetes & other events to both raise funds but also awareness about the specialist & general care that Pedigree & non Pedigree domestic cats require in order for them to maintain good health.
