I am undertaking an international elective placement in Tanzania in August 2019. The purpose of the placement is to experience maternity care in another country, where there are many different cultures, a lack of resources, shortage of staff, high incidence of HIV and an increased rates of stillbirths to name a few. My hope is that this placement will develop skills in dealing with situations where there are a lack of resources, therefore becoming more creative and innovative in maternity care.
