St John the Evangelist is the Parish Church of Old Coulsdon in Surrey. There has been a church on the site for over 1000 years, but the present building was built in 1261 and is Grade 1 listed. Parts of the copper roof stolen at the time of the London riots in 2011 have been replaced, but the slates on the Old Chancel roof are in poor condition and the wooden shingles on the spire have also come to the end of their useful life. A project to undertake these repairs has been costed at £110,000 for which the PCC is seeking financial support - not only from the congregation, but also the local community, and so we offer our thanks and blessings to anyone who can support us.
