Over £32m raised for good causes through easyfundraising
Our Charity exists to inform the public about the achievements of Thomas Fowell Buxton who led the struggle Parliament to abolish slavery in the British Empire. The slave trade had been abolished by Wilberforce in 1807, but slavery persisted. Buxton's act of Parliament was given Royal Assent in 1833 and on 1 August 1834, 800,000 slaves in the British Empire were freed. Buxton's achievements serve to remind the public even today, that the fight against slavery continues.
