As part of the collective effort to meet the development goals of Uganda-at-heart forum, certain members suggested that we start up an organisation whose name derived from the mother forum, thus it was called Uganda at Heart Foundation. The foundation intends to open up offices in different parts of Uganda depending on its growth and resources. At the moment, its activities are mostly carried out through cyber offices which are fine as long as the foundation goals are met. The foundation also intends to open up offices in the UK, USA and Canada through its coordinators or representatives in respective countries. The foundation has been prepared to facilitate international cooperation and knowledge sharing in development work, among members, civil society organizations, educational/ research institutions, cultural organisations and the private sector. The foundation aims to promote interaction and active partnerships among members, private sector and key development organisations in civil society, including NGOs, trade unions, Educational institutions, indigenous people’s movements, Cultural organisations and research centres. The foundation intends to raise funds mainly through membership fees, emergency contributions, annual fundraising events and voluntary contributions. The management intends to work closely together with local and international organisations to push the foundation’s goals. This will in turn create appropriate conditions for joined-up action on the ground in Uganda. The foundation also intends to pool as much resources as possible to create relationships, networks of trust and co-operation and social capital to provide local communities in Uganda with access to health, physical and emotional assets. Generally, it is a developmental organisation and its strength will rely mainly in its members. The foundation is not a replacement for the Ugandan-at-heart forum.
