About Birmingham Railcar Workgroup

We are a group of volunteers based on the Churnet Valley Railway in Staffordshire. We run a 1950's Class 104 Diesel Railcar set, one of only two operational examples. Alongside the two operational vehicles, we have another four which are currently dilapidated and (one-by-one) are being returned to their former glory. We are currently working on our third major restoration project, which has been in progress since 2005. This process requires much financial input, although not as much as many similar projects in the heritage railway sector. £20,000 per coach (when combined with our volunteer labour) is estimated as sufficient to see excellent results. We are therefore appealing to those interested to raise funds for us through searching the web. Thankyou :)
