About Highland Hospice

Highland Hospice envisions a community where access to specialist palliative care services and support is available equitably throughout. As the only hospice serving adults with incurable life limiting disease in the Highlands of Scotland, Highland Hospice is acknowledged as a resource of specialist palliative care expertise. Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of our patients and their families, through the prevention and relief of suffering, by addressing their physical, psychological and social needs. As demand increases, our many services continue to run and expand. We currently have a ten bed In Patient Unit in Inverness and our Day Hospice service now covers Portree, Invergordon, Thurso and Fort William, as well as continuing to run in Inverness. Our multidisciplinary team of experts comprises medical and nursing staff, a chaplain, family support workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and complementary therapists. Our medical staff provide specialist support within hospitals and care homes, as well as visiting patients at home and providing education and training for other healthcare professionals. We also provide bereavement counselling for relatives, Highland-wide. In order to keep all of these services going, we have high fundraising targets to achieve each week. As a charity, we work hard to offer a variety of ways to engage the Highland community in supporting us. Our shops are now present in 11 locations, and we host a full calendar of fundraising events each year, as well as working with individuals, groups, companies and trusts who wish to support us in their own unique way.
