About Lanarkshire Society Of Organists
The Lanarkshire Society of Organists (or the LSO as we are also known as) was founded by local organists in the Lanarkshire Area nearly 50 years ago. We celebrate our 50th anniversary on 2012.
Our first event was an Organ Recital in the former Auchingramont Parish Church in Hamilton, Lanarkshire.
Our membership is small with only 19 members. Our members represent a wide spectrum of interests - from Church Organists, \"hobby\" organists, pianists and people who appreciate music. We aim to provide a varied and interesting programme of events from September to April around the county of Lanarkshire - from Hamilton to Coatbridge, East Kilbride to Motherwell and Strathaven to Wishaw.
We are acutely aware of the needs of the organists\' profession and the needs of our church and local music needs. With regular Training Days, Information Days, links with church leaders regards salary scales and conditions of employment we strive to help, give guidance and stimulate interest among local musicians, of any nature.
