About PACT Animal Sanctuary (People for Animal Care Trust)

PACT is now one of the largest Animal Sanctuaries in the country. We begin where other organisations have neither the facilities or expertise to cope, our speciality is \'difficult to home animals\'. PACT rescues animals of all species, and rehomes, or in the case of wildlife releases ,whenever possible. We have a dedicated wild life site, fenced against predators, where we release any disabled wildlife capable of living a semi-wild life. PACT has been estabilished as a registered charity since 1995 and since then has successfully rehomed over 5000 animals, we currently have over 600 residents ranging from hamsters to horses. All potential new homes are strictly checked, all animals remaining in the ownership of PACT. PACT has a strict \\\'no kill\\\' policy, any animal not able to find a new home remains at the Sanctuary for life. PACT animals help people too, recognised as one of the best environments for animal welfare training, we provide work experience for students from local schools and colleges. We have recently set up \\\'The Henry Hallam Therapy Centre\\\' where people experiencing all kinds of health problems come to relax with our animals , a proven aid to recovery from physical and mental illnesses. Animals do not judge and aid self-confidence, helping people to learn to cope and to relate to other people, often assisting in getting people back into the work place. Our chief aims are \\\'to relieve the suffering of animals of any species in the need of care and in particular to provide and maintain sanctuaries for the reception and care of animals, and the treatment of sick, injured or ill-treated animals, and to educate people to take a responsible attitude towards our fellow creatures.
