Halas Hawks Hunters U13 Girls are a recently formed football team within the Halas Hawks Football Club, based in Halesowen in the West Midlands. An easyfundraising cause since August 2023, the team is already benefitting from hundreds of pounds in free donations. We sat down with Sally, one of the club’s committee members and cause admin, to shine the spotlight on this newly formed team and their fundraising ‘goals’.
Tell us a little about your club
Halas Hawks JFC was established in 1980 and currently operates no less than 57 teams, covering a range of ages from under-7s right through to veterans. We’re proud to be regarded as one of the largest youth development clubs in the area.
We have 16 girls only teams in the club, and our Halas Hawks Hunters U13 girls team is one of the newest. Our ethos is about everyone having the right to play in a fun and supportive environment, whilst developing their skills. The coaches are volunteers and we have a great group of girls aged 11 and 12, most of whom are playing football for the first time. We have a lovely group of parents, who really support the team – easyfundraising is a really easy way for them to support us for free!
What are you currently fundraising for?
As a new team we have no funds beyond team subs, so we have been looking at ways to raise money to support the girls with equipment, kit, travel to games etc. and we set up easyfundraising for that reason. We also enter competitions and do other fundraising activities such as football cards and raffles. Our parents have really rallied to raise funds towards equipment and kit, and to organise team building activities. Hunters is a whole team effort.
What is your top tip for fundraising success on easyfundraising?
It’s all about making sure our club community know just how easy it is. Regularly reminding the committee and parents that just shopping online as normal will add money to the team pot. The most effective tool is definitely the donation reminder – it really helps make sure every online buy raises a donation!
