About this cause

About our cause

Ali Bandali is a young boy who suffers from a condition known as spastic Dystonic cerebral palsy. This condition is due to an injury to the brain which affects the body impair movement, coordination balance and posture. Statistics show that one in every three children are not able to walk, therefore the disease has a detrimental effect on the child. Since the tender age of 6 months, Ali has had to battle with this diagnosis. Ali has been having ongoing treatment and therapies since he was 6 months old, where he underwent Hernia surgery in June 2007 in India and regular therapies every 6 months thereafter. In February 2011, Ali had to undergo a deep brain stimulation. Although the treatment was slowly working, it was ineffective at times which therefore lead to his mother and his brother moving with him to the United Kingdom. The treatments included are Botox as well as hydroptherapy, physio therapy and education therapy. This has resulted in a great improvement to his quality of life the doctors are certain that he will be able to make a stable and good recovery inshallah. Ali is currently a patient at Great Ormond street Hospital, however treatment is very expensive. Ali received donations from miscellaneous donors that allowed him to pay for his treatment and therapies. The cost of the treatment and therapies are ongoing which cost £1000 per week, these include hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and educational therapy. Ali Bandali and his family need assistance so that they can pay for his treatment. With the support from friends and well wishers, Ali had a replacement of his pacemaker battery in January and he's back running and going. The pacemaker is used to stimulate the part of the brain which controls Ali's movement. "As Ali's mother, I would appreciate any contribution, however small, to give my son the chance of a better future." Farzana Bandali farzana_bandali@yahoo.co.uk
