Batons of Steel Majorettes was set up as a non for profit independent organisation to help promote team building and self confidence whilst learning new skills for children in February 2009 by Founder Michelle Meakin and her daughters Charlotte and Sophie and together with 12 original members who were from a previous majorette troupe Batons of steel was formed. At the present time we have approximately 60 children of various ages. Our aim is to concentrate on teaching both girls and boys aged 3 years upwards. We hold lessons in Baton Twirling, Cheerleading and Miltary Freestyle. During 2009 we have appeared at over 15 Fetes, Galas, Parades and Shows and have already got bookings for next year. Batons of Steel are members of the Great Britain Baton Twirling Association (GBBTA) and the British Isles Baton Twirling Association (BIBTA) and complete at national level at least once a year although it is not compulsory that any child enters it is only if the child wishes to do so.
