About this cause

About our cause

Bromley Basketball Club is the only competitive mens basketball club in the London Borough of Bromley. The club currently compete in the Medway Basketball Association (MBA) based in Kent. As of the 2016-17 Season the club has expanded to three men's teams, Bromley Fury I, Bromley Fury II and Bromley Fury III. All three teams club teams compete in the Medway Basketball Association, Division A and B respectively. Bromley Basketball Club was founded in 1956 (formerly Bromley and Old Bromleians Basketball Club), making us the longest standing basketball club in the country. The club was formed by a group of Old Bromleians from Bromley Grammar School (present day Ravensbourne School) who wished to continue playing and maintain social ties. The club gained popularity shortly after its inception playing in the Kent County before moving to play in the South Thames Basketball League. As the years went by Bromleys success in both leagues saw them make the jump in the late 70s to competing in the National League after winning the National 100 Cup (present day Founders Cup). Since 2013, Bromley Basketball Club has been progressively changing with the introduction of the club nickname Fury. Giving the club a new edge and the start of a new era with new players and a more focused regime. Both teams at the club were renamed; Bromley Fury I and Bromley Fury II. The nickname was created at Caister Festival of Basketball 2014 where players were told to bring the fury during tournament games. The club recently celebrated its 60th Anniversary (in June 2016), making it one of the oldest clubs in the country. The celebrations saw members from past and present come together to wish the club a happy birthday. The club has a bright future with a developing new home, junior programs and sponsors.
