Over £40m raised for good causes through easyfundraising
Bullwood Regeneration project began in March 2000 with the aim of using the woodland at the rear of the Cowal Resource Centre in Dunoon to provide access and woodland related training for people with disabilities. In 2006, the project extended to the Isle of Bute. Development and Maintenance Groups have also introduced over 300 young trees into the woodland, where the ground has been cleared of blanket scrub. The participants have been assiduous in looking after the woodland paths, fences and terrace. There are approx 22 people who attend Argyll Social Inclusion Service Team (ASIST) in Dunoon and the Pheonix Centre in Rothesay who are now benefiting from project training. Up to now, the project has been supported by the European Social Fund (ESF) and Argyll and Bute Council who match fund by supplying staff to help train the participants. In September 2006, an application for ESF funding for 2007 was submitted and approved by Highlands and Islands Partnership Programme. This, however is the last application that we can make, as ESF grants in their current form cease at the end of 2007. If the woodland project is to continue to develop, alternative sources of funding must be found.
