Dance Base encourages and celebrates the potential for dance in everyone. As Scotland's National Centre For Dance, we offer a vibrant and uplifting focal point which reaches out and inspires well-being and creativity, and cultivates a future for dance in local, national and international communities. We run three artistic programmes: A public class programme providing over 100 classes in over 40 different forms of dance throughout the year, including: Under-5s, Hip-Hop and Breakdancing, Cuban Salsa, Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Tango, Ballroom and Egyptian Belly Dance - to name but a few. A fully inclusive outreach programme working with individuals and groups with a wide range of interests and abilities. We take dance to nurseries, primary and secondary schools, youth groups and adult day centres. We also bring groups to our fabulous studios at Grassmarket for classes and to watch professional company rehearsals. Many of our groups also go to see professional dance shows as part of their Outreach Programme. A professional support programme, supporting and promoting professional dancers through classes, workshops and performance opportunities, including a Fringe Festival platform, continued professional development and management resources. Over 2500 people a week currently experience the physical and emotional benefits of dance through a Dance Base activity.
