The official group for the charity Developing Counselling In Schools & The Community (Best known as DCSC). A Charity for Hertfordshire supporting young people & their families DCSC aim to preserve and to protect the good mental health and physical health of people in Hertfordshire. This will be through the provision of counselling and other therapeutic services including life skills coaching. Benefiting from these services will be people including (but not solely) those socially excluded by: unemployment, financial hardship, ill health – both mental and physical, substance abuse or dependency – including alcohol and drugs, poor educational skills or issues with skills attainment and also issues due to relationship and family breakdown. Most of our work with young people is done within the school community including Marriotts School and schools within the Central Stevenage Extended Schools Consortium with a few exceptions. Our adult work has extended into suitable premises out in the community and locations may change to meet the changing needs of our clients. They include community centres, voluntary centres and privately rented rooms. Our Statement: \"We as a community have the opportunity and responsibility to look after the emotional well being of our young people. If we work together and support one another to achieve this I believe, long term, families will relate better, education standards will improve, crime rate will reduce along with drug and alcohol issues. Our counsellors have the skills to help make this happen. Please support us.br /> Since this statement was introduced 4 years ago DCSC has done some outstanding work in the community. They are now working in a number of schools offering free of charge counselling to students, teachers and even parents. DCSC are now celebrating charitable status and strongly looking forward to what the future now has to offer.
