About this cause

About our cause

Everyone Counts International (ECI) is a small charity which was set up in Mach 2011. Dr Emmanuella Akande , the founding member discussed her vision of promoting an organization that can raise awareness on issues around bullying, respect and dignity facing developing countries such as Nigeria. The organization should expand to support African communities in the United Kingdom address similar issues within their respective communities.
The vision for ECI was shared with family and friends and was considered a laudable one. The Charity was born and its vision remains strong. It is to promote a society where leaders respect and care for the people they lead and communities respect each other. Issues such as bullying of the under privileged, abusive relationships within communities and family units are common place and acceptable to our target communities. The need for more awareness about the negative impact of such practices will be promoted by ECI with the view that these communities will develop a culture of everyone deserving of dignity and respect irrespective of their background, ethnicity, financial or social status.
This is an uphill task to achieve within our target African communities where moral values are second place to material and financial achievements. Abuse and oppression of the less able is part of day to day life and often acceptable to many.
ECI therefore plans to promote a huge educational programme directed at children and young people and spread our vision and message to our target population, starting from an early age. Educational and vocational programmes that empower and enrich young people as well as enlighten them on issues around citizenship and respect for others will be used. The inclusion of civic societal values as described, will potentially see young people who are the future leaders for tomorrow being brought up with the right attitude that will be supportive of others in the communities they live in.
ECI has a vision where as a result of decent societal values problems such as bullying and abuse of the under privileged and poor in different areas of these communities will be frowned upon and become a thing of the past
ECI welcomes members who share a similar vision for African and Nigerian communities to join the organization and contribute to its development and projects.
Membership requires an annual registration fee of £25
Financial Contribution to the running of ECI is also welcome.
