Over £35m raised for good causes through easyfundraising
I am going on an expedition, with Operation Wallacea, to Guyana to help measure the biodiversity of the forests. Guyana is one of the only untouched tropical forests in the world. However it is unlikely to stay this way unless the indigenous people of Guyana are educated in how to keep their forests while still making a living off of it. An agreement has been made, so that the indigenous people are aloud to cut down some of the trees but are done in such a way that it doesn't disturb the biodiversity of this amazing forest. What I will be doing while I am out there is helping scientists to carry out surveys of biodiversity to see if selective logging makes a difference to it. All of the data which has been collected will then prove that indigenous people can gain money from the forest while still conserving it. By protecting and conserving the forests species such as the Jaguar, Tapir, giant otters, harpy eagles and many others, are being protected.
