OUR DERBY FACEBOOK GROUP https://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_214406858585016&ap=1 Jades smiles is being set up by 15 year old Jade Swain and her mother Janene Stewart,who first hand knew what it was like to be in and out of hospital and realized that the little things can make your hospital stay a little more bearable,in 2009 jade was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma,a form of tissue sarcoma,in English,Cancer.She had to undergo grueling chemotherapy and painful operations,including her nose being amputated and then reconstructed.Jade realized that when people came round and handed out presents or sweets or just made you laugh,it made that hospital stay a little less boring,and is also seemed a shorter stay. jades mum also realized that a happy child made it easier to cope with that chemotherapy session.So,after jade was deemed in remission in September 2010 she set out to start her own charity which handed out small gifts/suprises to children with long term illnesses,not just cancer or leukemia but other illnesses too,because no matter what you are in hospital for,you always get bored from time to time!The aims in our charity is to make stays in hospital that tiny bit more bearable and to put a smile on a childs face,wether its for 2 minutes or 2 weeks. We aim to administer small wishes in forms of gifts to as many children as possible,how much funding we get will decide on how many childrens wishes we get to grant.How this will work will be as follows.We will provide the ward with "wish" forms for parents or the child themselves to comeplete,and also what they would like as their wish.as they are small gifts/presents the wish would have to be under £50.this can be as follows: Gift card, DVD(s) jewelery Childrens toy arts and craft supplies console game(s) book(s) Itunes card Club penguin membership star doll "stardollars" miss bimbo credits dressing up items, or anything else! We will try our very best to fulfill a wish! we have several trustees who are fully dedicated to the charity. Our mission: MAKE CHILDREN SMILE. jadesmiles@live.co.uk
