World Challenge India 2018 - Jaidan Cheema

Hi everyone! For those of you who know me you, you know how much I love my creature comforts and home! But, Ive been presented with a once in a lifetime opportunity with World Challenge, to travel to the Indian Himalayas for 4 weeks, to participate in community work and some pretty intense trekking. I will spend time helping to improve the lives of the people who live in this remote part of the world without access to some of the most basic resources which we unfortunately take for granted. The type of projects I will get involved with are helping to rebuild some of the infrastructure (such as schools and houses), repainting buildings or even helping to develop a fresh water source. I will also complete a 7-11 day trek up some of the Himalayan Mountains. It all sounds a bit wacky for me, but it will help me to become a more independent, stronger individual and show me the world through a new perspective. A prerequisite of taking part in World Challenge is fundraising the £3900 needed for the trip yourself. This is our first lesson, to help us understand the value of money and highlight the difficulty of raising such amounts.
