About this cause

About our cause

My son James was born 31st May 2012, 8 weeks early by emergency C-Section. James was immediately resuscitated and incubated then taken straight to the Neonatal Unit where he spend the first 5 weeks of his life. Everyday James became stronger and stronger. Within 48 hours James was able to breathe for himself with a little help. James had the best care in the Neonatal Unit and cannot fault them one bit. ★ Upcoming Events ★ Buggy Walk - 28th May - 10:30am - Starting point @ Hythe Ferry - Completed :) Thanks to Steph Westbrook ( Pro Womens Golfer ) - Charity Gold Day - 28th September @ Mentmore Golf Course - Information tbc Thanks to Chris Hobbs ( Undefeated Pro Boxer ) & Adam Sullivan - Charity Bike Ride from Southampton to Gretna, Scotland & Climb Ben Nevis - 5th June 2014. James now has Cerebral Palsy, Mild brain damage and Spastic Diplegia. 22 months down the line James is a happy and healthy child. He never lets anything get in the way of his happiness. We have recently been in the newspapers. Here's a few articles. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/district/newforest/11127962.Help_toddler_take_his_first_steps_unaided/ http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/11219418.Boxer_weighs_in_to_help_toddler/ We will be in Take a Break magazine at the end of June 2014 & in our local Harrold magazine on the 5th June 2014. I recently raised £1600 for the NICU that James spent the first 5 weeks of his life. James is also on the list for Botox Treatment which he requires ASAP but won't be seen on the NHS for 12 months. James has a standing frame and walking frame which he is struggling with due to the high tone in his lower limbs. We know he will need Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) in the near future which will enable our son to walk. Unfortunately this treatment is no longer available on the NHS. We are hoping that a private surgeon in the UK will help us but we are most likely going to have to travel to America for this much needed treatment. Myself & my family are very upset that my son can not get the treatment he requires. We hope & wish he will walk and live the life to the best of his abilities. This treatment could make James walk. James wants to be like his other mates his age. It breaks my heart not seeing him take his first steps, kick a ball & run rings around me. He's such a determined little boy. We need to raise about £50,000 for all the treatment he requires. If you want to get in contact or can help in any way please email me on vickimills100@googlemail.com or phone me on 02380840905. Thank you :)
