Over £32m raised for good causes through easyfundraising
SLV is a voluntary organisation established in 2010. I will be joining SLV in Sri Lanka for 6 weeks from April to June 2018 on the Psychology placement. I will be living with other volunteers and with a Sri Lankan family. During this time, I will be working with people suffering from mental ill-health in Sri Lanka. Ill be involved in running activities for patients using a range of sensory, creative and music therapies. Moreover, Ill attend workshops run by Samutthana, the Kings College London resource center for trauma, displacement and mental health. Samutthana focuses on training and supporting individuals and organsiations to respond to the psychosocial needs of individuals affected by trauma. In addition to these projects I have the chance to work with individuals with special needs and teach English to young people on vocational courses. Ill be utilising my skills to work with individuals who may be marginalised in Sri Lankan society.
