About this cause

About our cause

Charlotte (Lottie) is 11 years old and lives in Sutton Coldfield. She has a rare chromosomal disorder called 16q deletion, which results in physical and severe global developmental delay. She also suffers with many other medical conditions. Lottie has surpassed the expectations of doctors time after time. Her loveable, fun, cheeky nature melts the hearts of all who meet her. All aspect of her life requires additional support, 24 hours a day, from feeding, walking, dressing, toileting….even breathing. Since Lottie was born, her parents Vanessa and Ivor from Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham have worked tirelessly in supporting her medical and social needs. Vanessa and Ivor are worried that, although she has exceeded doctors’ expectations, the time they thought they would have with Lottie is running out, together with the opportunities to create special memories. They want to do as much as they can, whilst she is still able. As Lottie’s condition is so rare, she slips through the cracks in many ways. For the first time ever, Vanessa and Ivor are asking for help as time is now not on Lottie’s side and they want to spend quality time together as a family and give her lots of fun. They are unable to access the usual funding/charities because they do not meet the financial requirements needed to qualify as they are a working family. What Funds Raised Would be Used For • A special bed – needed for hospital stays as there are no specialised beds for her. • Pushchair & bike trailer – she cannot explore her local park in Sutton Coldfield with her family or go on day trips to visit her Grandma who lives by the beach. • The ability to access oxygen, nursing care, mobility aids and associated medical costs so that the family can go on holiday together whilst she is still well enough. • A swing chair – Lottie loves to swing backwards and forwards, spending time outside. The swing will means that Lottie can have lots of fun without becoming exhausted.• A specialised bouncing chair would allow Lottie to exercise safely.• Extra one to one care so she can access different activities and experiences during the time she has left.
