Over £32m raised for good causes through easyfundraising
In early April 2012, a group of friends from school and I are going on an expedition to Morocco for 10 days.
But don’t think this is just a holiday; it’s a lot more work than that. The cost of the trip alone, without all of the necessary equipment and vaccinations, is £1075, and one of the main points of this whole trip, is that we are expected to pay for the whole amount ourselves by various fundraising activities (of which this is one).
The trip itself is not a holiday where we lie in the sun doing nothing; we will trek up and down mountains and into the desert, even getting the chance to ride on camels! We also get a chance to visit the souks in the cities and buy a fez, because fezzes are cool.
We will face a series of mental and physical challenges, taking us outside of our comfort zones and teaching us how to overcome adversity, cope with new environments and become more aware of both our strengths and weaknesses.
Tapping into World Challenge’s expertise and extensive resources, we will participate by working as a team, taking responsibility, setting and meeting objectives and learning to become confident decision-makers.
We’ll become more environmentally aware by exploring diverse landscapes of Morocco around us as we trek, finding out about other cultures or discovering more about their own. We will gain a broader global perspective and a greater respect for the world.
I’ve already raised money by taking part in bag packing, a few cake sales, a coffee morning, general donations and I have a few more things lined up to raise more money.
