Myself Lauren cooper and my friend Elle Ivin are third year student midwives studying at Plymouth University. We have been given a once in a lifetime experiance to travel to Takoradi Ghana for a three week volunteering hospital experiance and a one week village experience with the company ‘work the world’.We will be working full time alongside the direct supervision of the midwives there, getting hands-on experience in an overseas setting, which is one of the most beneficial ways we can develop our skills, perspectives and style of care as upcoming midwives for future practice. Whilst in Africa we will be provided with language lessons to enable an understanding on emotions, new culture and to develop a sense of communication with the women in which we provide care for and the midwives we work alongside. We feel so grateful to have this opportunity however this trip would cost us £3000 each. All collections we raise will go towards flights, accommodation, insurance and vaccinations. We truly understand the word is hard financially right now. Any donation/ contribution you are willing to make we appreciate so much. Thank you for reading our story and we hope you can help us with this dream. Lauren Cooper and Elle Ivin.
