The idea for this chairty started back in 2005, when our chair trustee Lucy, spent her gap year out in Malawi. In that time she spent 4 months teaching at Likwenu Primary. Inspired by her experience but only too aware of the serious challenges facing the people she spent time with, Lucy spent the next few years supporting individuals and raising awareness. In 2009 after completing University she founded the Chairty with a group of other students and slowly the team is growing. The plan is to return to Malawi in Summer 2010, to start the developments of the school. The Likwenu Foundation will improve the quality of life and education for the people of Likwenu Primary school and the surrounding areas, as a means to alleviate poverty. This will be achieved by rebuilding school infrastructure and by improving education, leading to self-sufficient individuals making an increased contribution to their community.
It's simple to use and it's free. Since we launched in 2005, we've helped thousands of good causes raise money simply by shopping online. Our community of over 1.8 million loyal supporters has so far raised over £31 million.
