Master Axe's Foundation is a UK registered 'social enterprise' (not-for-profit) company that is dedicated toward the provision of a unique brand of martial sports based education within the British schools sector; we take great pride in having a strong focus upon the instilling of self discipline and appropriate conflict resolution strategies into our cadre of outstanding young students' developing persona. Our ultimate objective at MAF is to try to assist tutors, youths and parents during those traumatic teen-angst plagued years; which so often lead to disruptive behaviour within the classroom and the associated wasted opportunities that this can represent. The above said is delivered under the two separate headings, these being entitled (part one) Breaking Bad Habits which centres on getting our newly inducted charges to grasp the previous error of their ways, followed by (part two) Building New Horizons which focuses upon a plethora of life skills and career options that MASK can assist in making available. Unlike other forms of martial endeavour, ours is not a 'part time' after-school-club type of approach, but it is instead a fully immersive (within standard school curriculum time) two hours daily, five days per week, two part programme that is spread over 10 weeks, which offers a pioneering methodology that is centred around both rigorous physical activity and specialist psychological profiling techniques. NB. The combined MASK Programme courses are spread over two terms and are in total representative of 100 hours of expert tuition; this includes introductory topic matter such as the application of bio-chemistry, practical physics and core nutritional understanding, alongside standard literacy and numeracy, we also cover subjects such as historical figures, geo-political influences and social debating strategies. Our primary mission is to engage young people, enthuse them with a core of new moral principles and motivate them to adopt an ethos that is geared toward them recognising that actions have consequences, so that they take ownership of their behaviour and therefore do then recognise that just as their negative acts do breed a negative response, so positive acts do breed a positive response. After the first of our two five week courses has concluded, our students are then given the additional support they require when reintegrating back into their normal daily routine; this is achieved by virtue of our MASK tutors attending their school classroom, where they then perform an observation session, followed by a very structured liaison session between each individual pupil and their primary teaching staff member or pastoral care manager. MAF are indeed on a mission, put simply it is our goal to bring reconciliation to that which may at first appear to be irreconcilable and to deliver calm where all may seem to be beset by chaos; as we at MAF believe that through hard work, a structured environment and clear boundaries, if reached early enough, no youth is beyond redemption. It is easy to quote that "every child matters", but it is perhaps more profound to admit that "what you do must matter to every child". With such an ethos in mind all MAF tutors do constantly strive to ensure that our offering is fresh, exciting and above all else is relevant to each and every student that is enrolled within our MASK Programme.
