World Challenge India 2016 - Megan Centrella

Hi, my name is Megan Centrella and I’m 15 years old, I found out about World challenge through school, and the fact it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and such an enriching learning experience made me want to give it a go! I go to Weston Favell Academy and I am currently studying for my GCSE’s. World challenge is an organisation designed to take 14-17year olds on an eye opening journey. The UK’s key employers voted World Challenge by name as the fourth most important activity undertaken at school, above activities such as Young Enterprise and sporting events. These organisations rated leadership, teamwork, self-motivation, communication, confidence, consideration of others and the ability to learn as being the key determinants in the selection of employees; all of which are World Challenge’s life skills. Next year we will be trekking in Uttarakhand, North India where as well as a physical challenge we will be taking part in a community project for a large duration of the expedition. The community project is a rewarding phase where we interact with members of the local communities, and give something beneficial back- putting into perspective how privileged our lives really are, there are over 50 expeditions each year from the UK alone and each one alone makes a significant difference to the lives of others. I will be raising all the money through fundraising myself and with my school as a group. This is where I need your help; I really believe that I can help make a difference. I am committed to world challenge, and the work we will be doing out there is life changing for not only those suffering from poverty and lack of education but for the expedition team too.
