Newcastle City Learning Centre’s promotes and develops new and exciting ways of learning through the use of information and communication technology (ICT). It combines state-of-the-art facilities and expertise to provide learning opportunities to a network of local schools (primary and secondary), local business and the local community. The aim of the City Learning Centre is to enhance the learning opportunities for pupils by: • improving access to, and use by pupils and adults to the latest education technology • improving attainment levels through the use of technology • increasing staying on rates • reducing truancy figures • Improving employment prospects. Newcastle CLC provides courses and opportunities for individual pupils, delivering services and outreach support to a wider network of local schools, including providing extension activities for Gifted and Talented pupils and study support, acting as a test bed for innovation and new ways of teaching and learning, as well as cascading best practice amongst the local network of schools and other facilities.
