In June 2023 I am going on an expedition with the organisation Operation Wallacea (Opwall). Opwall is a biodiversity and conservation research organisation that runs projects worldwide with the help of volunteers and students. I will be going to Croatia for a month where I will work as a research assistant, helping Opwall with the surveys they run at their project sites in Croatia. For 2 weeks I will be based in the beautiful Krka National Park. There I will help various research teams with habitat, bird, mammal, butterfly and bat surveys to name a few! There are also long-term data collection projects like surveys of Cave Fauna, the distribution of Hermann's tortoise and the effect of Wolves on predator composition. After two weeks I will travel to Silba island to take part in marine-based research collection. There, I will start with Scuba training before moving onto the Mediterranean ecology and survey techniques course. Once I am trained I will assist with current data collection!
