World Challenge Ecuador 2016 - Paige Farrington

Hi everyone, I am currently raising £3774 to fund a 4 week expedition to Ecuador. In July 2016 I will spend a month abroad, with a team from my college aiming to complete our project; building an Ecolodge for the locals and tourists which will aim to provide somewhere safe to stay that is designed to be environmentally friendly to fit in with the rainforest environment, whilst generating a flow of income for the community. Organising the majority of the expedition ourselves whilst in Ecuador my group and I will have to budget to book our own accommodation, transport, food etc. whilst overcoming the Spanish language barrier in order to get us between destinations. Visiting zones of high malaria, exposed to new surroundings and high altitudes of up to 4200m despite the initial cost of the expedition I also have to raise funds for my vaccinations, such as; rabies, yellow fever etc. Whilst in Ecuador I will be learning about the lives of the locals first hand, living and eating with them in order to appreciate their cultures and cuisines. I will also be trekking up to into the rainforests and mountainous regions as Ecuador is located in the Andes I will attempt to summit Cotopaxi volcano and the Quilotoa Lagoon. I massively appreciate any donations to help me reach my goal as they will not only help me to travel to Ecuador, they will fund the eco lodge project improving the quality of the lives of locals.
