About Royal Centre for Defence Medicine - Patient Welfare Fund

We are raising money for the an amazing cause the 'Patient Welfare Fund.' The Patient Welfare Fund, a registered charity, derives income from the generosity of the general public, regimental associations and charitable organisations. The fund is used to improve the quality of life during admission. Money is spent on a wide variety of things ranging from recreational activities, laptops, DVD players through to toiletries and other sundry items for the patients. Patients can arrive in Birmingham ahead of their possessions, which can follow on several days later, and so helping them in the first few days is a massive boost. When the family first arrive this can be particularly difficult, the ‘Patient Welfare Fund,’ provide other facilities and comforts over and above whats funded by the 'system' to allow the family to concentrate on supporting their loved one. On occasions, we also have small projects which require funding, like providing comfortable family facilities such as the new ‘Fisher’ house. The medical care provided at QEHB is second to none and few places in Europe have built up the same level of experience in dealing with military casualties. But total care is more than just medical care and in the last few years, the administrative and welfare support provided to military patients and their families has become part of our soldiers holistic care. For many families, being told that a loved one has been wounded and being brought back to QEHB can seem like the world has suddenly changed. It is the 'military bubble' which we at QEHB endeavour to put in place to help the patient group cope with that initial stress and trauma. Whatever is required, Patient Support Services will do its utmost to assist and provide. We go by the maxim ‘He who gives quickly, gives value'.

"I run a not for profit Community Interest Company and shared our cause. Very easy to use, templates ready to share on social media, with direct links to our page and pop up reminders installed for when I was shopping with numerous websites, where I could gain the free donation. Excellent service and a fabulous idea."
