OUR CHALLENGE:
We will be completing six consecutive day's walking the Great Wall of China, trecking for up to 8 hours a day, up and down steep mountains, and along ruined sections of the wall which are crumbling and discontinuous. The itinerary takes us to all the major sections of the wall that are open and accessible from Beijing and we have been advised to follow a fitness plan in preparation for the challenge. The trek is a true challenge for all three of us, and we hope to raise as much money for such a brilliant local charity.
OUR CHARITY:
Many of you may know that Paula Goodfellow was admitted to St John's Hospice in October 2011 after her previous treatment for cancer was not effective. She was surrounded by love and support from her family and friends, alongside the care and attention from the inspirational nursing team. All the staff at St John's Hospice do an unimaginable job providing not only their patients with everything they need, but also providing a great friendly support network for family members during this difficult time.
St John's Hospice is situated in the Bedfordshire countryside and has 15 inpatient beds and one day care service. The hospice offers specialist short-term palliative care for patients with life-limiting illnesses including cancer, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, heart, liver and lung disease.Â
The Hospice relies heavily on donations so that this support can carry on helping more families throughout such a difficult time.Â
Paula’s Kingfishers has been set up in memorial of Paula who sadly passed away on the 29th November 2011. Her family and friends want to say thank you to St John’s for all their help and support by raising more funds so others can have the chance to use such a brilliant facility.Â
OUR SPONSORSHIP PLEDGE:
We have all paid a fee to take part in this challenge and we each have to make a £3000 minimum sponsorship pledge. Any donations are welcome and gratefully received both by us and our chosen charity.
Many thanks to all you help and support
Emma Little, Rebecca Little and Gail Humberstone.
